Introduction to Natural Hoof care

 

 

A one day clinic for horse owners

Topics covered:

  • Diet and Lifestyle for a healthy horse and healthy feet

  • Basic anatomy of the foot

  • Evaluating the horse, movement, and feet

  • Recognizing hoof pathology

  • Tools - selection and maintenance

  • Safe horse handling for trimming

  • Basics of hoof trimming

  • Hoof boots - selection and fitting

Clinic participants may bring their own horse to trim. All horses must be calm and safe to work around. Unmanageable horses will not be trimmed. Each participant will receive individual instruction for up to 30 minutes. Participants are required to bring gloves and wear appropriate footwear for working around horses. This is a full day clinic, packed with information, so come prepared to take lots of notes. Clinic starts at 9:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm
