I trim horse's hooves to be functional
and healthy. My goal is to shape the hoof to be as close as possible to
nature's design in a natural environment, where the hooves wear
according to the terrain. I avoid aggressive trimming and making major
changes to the hoof in one appointment. If a hoof needs a major "makeover",
it's best to do this over several trims at regularly scheduled intervals.
For some "before" and "after" photos of hooves that I have trimmed, see the
photo gallery page. I provide hoof care
services for most equines, provided that they are reasonably well trained to
allow their feet to be handled and trimmed. I need a clean, level, and safe place to work. If a horse needs
some education about proper conduct while being trimmed, and it takes more time
to get the job done due to behavior issues, there will be an additional fee
based on the time spent. Likewise, if a horse's hooves are grossly
overgrown, there might be an additional fee if it takes longer than one hour
to trim them. From a financial standpoint, it is in the owner's best
interest to make sure that the horses are properly trained before the
trimming appointment.

Hoof boots are an
excellent tool for horses transitioning from shoes to
barefoot, or horses that are challenged by hard or rocky ground. Boots
with pads are beneficial for horses with navicular, founder, or weak
hooves to help the horse stay comfortable and moving properly. I am an
EasyCare dealer and
provide expert fitting
of EasyCare
Gloves, Glue-ons, and Epic boots.
